Happiest outdoors, Anna-Marie is a certified Performance Coach who loves to escape the confines of four walls and take conversations into nature. As a former British Army Officer, she has worked in challenging environments from snowy Arctic tundra to hot and sandy deserts though currently resides within the rolling countryside of Wiltshire.

What makes her tick?

She has an insatiable curiosity for the world and is a self-certified learning junkie with a Post Graduate Certificate in Applied Coaching from the University of Derby and Master’s in Teaching from the University of Sydney; amongst other psychological and psychometric-based coaching tools.

Alongside her passion for performance and coaching Anna-Marie has a severe ultra-running habit. She loves racing overseas and, pre-COVID-19, regularly achieved podium positions on the international Ultra-Trail World Tour series, Marathon des Sables and other crazy long-distance events.

What’s her mission?

To encourage a different approach to work where our natural environment is valued and brought into the business world. She initially collaborated with Alex co-writing the chapter ‘Outdoor Eco-coaching’ for ’The Coaches Handbook’ which was published by Routledge in October 2020. They have several other projects focused on coaching outdoors in the pipeline!!

Alex Burn

Alex has loved the outdoors since she was young and searched for a career where she could combine the two. With a BSc in Psychology from The University of Warwick, an MA in Organisation Studies from Warwick Business School and an MSc in Coaching and Behavioural Change from Henley Business School, Alex loves understanding the psychology of behaviour and the way people tick. She focuses her coaching practice on taking coaching conversations outdoors and helping her coachees to understand and take advantage of the mental and physical benefits that nature and natural environments bring to coaching.

Living in the Highlands of Scotland means having everything from mountains and lochs, to woodlands and fields right on her doorstep and she takes every opportunity she can to get outside.

What makes her tick?

Alex loves being outdoors – whether that’s hiking up the mountains or strolling alongside a loch. She is often found with a pair of binoculars in one hand and a camera in the other.

Alex also has a small obsession with gardening and birdlife, as well as bringing the outdoors indoors, and has a garden and cottage full of plants and animals.

What’s her mission?

To encourage others to be as excited about the natural world as she is, to get outside and experience the benefits of nature and to think differently about how the natural environment can hence our lives.

Working on writing the chapter in “The Coaches Handbook” with Anna-Marie, set the ball rolling for a number of projects and collaborations which have developed into the podcast series and website. More to come soon… watch this space.
