“I look up and there’s a bear!”

Jen Wills, former U.S. Environmental Protection Agency attorney turned leadership, well-being and nature coach and instructor from Virginia, U.S, shares her coaching journey over a six month period. This episode is slightly different from our usual format with not one – but two (!) interviews in March 2021 and October 2021.

Firm nature advocate she outlines her coaching methodology ‘Nature Roaming’™, which integrates reflecting on intentions, connecting to nature and creating a plan to grow from the experience. This episode also dives into how she connects EQ-i 2.0™ assessments with nature to help clients develop the emotional intelligence skills of self-awareness, empathy and stress-management.

Jen also co-created a new Community of Practice for Outdoor and Nature Coaching, hosted by the Metro DC Chapter of ICF, to create a space for coaches and others to share resources and their passion for nature coaching.

Our guest

Jennifer Wills, ACC, is a leadership, well-being and nature coach and instructor. She lives in Virginia, U.S. and works with clients across North America. She coaches individuals from many sectors and roles, from nonprofits to tech companies, individual contributors to executives. Nature has been a force throughout her entire life and she shares that through her coaching. She developed a method for coaching called Nature Roaming™, during which she takes individuals and groups into nature to reflect on an intention, connect with nature and themselves, and devise a plan to grow from the experience. She co-created a new Community of Practice for Outdoor and Nature Coaching, hosted by the Metro DC Chapter of ICF, to create a space for coaches and others to share resources and their passion for nature coaching.

Prior to coaching, Jennifer was an attorney with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for more than 15 years where she worked with senior leaders on national policies and regulations impacting manufacturing, retail and chemical industries. Jennifer has also been faculty of international environmental law and policy and career coach at Virginia Tech’s Center for Leadership in Global Sustainability. She’s currently the chair of the board of a nature education and conservation non-profit helping to provide access to nature across generations.

Jennifer has a juris doctor, a master’s degree in global sustainability, and an undergraduate degree in biology. She is an Associate Certified Coach through the International Coaching Federation and is certified to conduct EQ-i 2.0™ assessments to help clients develop their leadership capabilities and emotional intelligence.
